As we continue to engage across the political spectrum, we are delighted to share that we have the Green Party’s commitment to backing a National Sepsis Action Plan.
On 27 October, 2026, in Nelson, our CEO, Ally Hossain, met with Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand co-leader, Chlöe Swarbrick, for a productive and engaged conversation about sepsis and the need for a national response.
It's fair to say it's a rather busy time for politicians right now, so we’re especially grateful to Chlöe for taking the time to hear about the impact of sepsis on thousands of New Zealanders and their whānau, and the work Sepsis Trust NZ is doing to improve awareness, support survivors and drive change across our health system.
A national plan would provide an important framework for bringing together awareness, early recognition, timely treatment, support for survivors and whānau, and research and quality improvement.
Sepsis is a whole-of-system challenge that requires leadership, collaboration and sustained action. Making sepsis a national health priority is our goal, and building support across the political spectrum is an important part of getting there.
