If you’re dealing with sepsis, every little helps

The Sepsis Trust has partnered with Support Crew, an Auckland-based social enterprise aiming to help patients, family and whaanau cope with a serious health event. The Support Crew platform allows people to coordinate information and requests for help from a single site that integrates with social media and links to companies and providers who can keep the home fires burning whilst you concentrate on getting better.

“Not nearly enough is being done to curb sepsis, one of the most prevalent but misdiagnosed, deadly diseases in the world. And the biggest problem is, most of us have never heard of sepsis”, says Kelly Banks, who partnered with Janine Williams to found Support Crew. Kelly adds:

“50% of sepsis survivors who had no or minimal cognitive limitations before admission have a persistent disability after one year and their path to recovery can be slow and difficult.”
